Simple Truth

Coconut, Brown Sugar & Rose Body Scrub

I absolutely love body scrubs and buy them often. They can be a bit pricey, but the main ingredients are so simple that I decided to try whipping one up at home. I found a delectable DIY recipe and am absolutely thrilled with the results. This Coconut, Brown Sugar & Rose body scrub is fragrant, exfoliating and ultra-hydrating. It will also make a wonderful gift for holidays and birthdays! Here's how to make this delicious scrub at home!

You'll need:

  • A mason jar with a wide mouth (so you can easily stick your hand in and scoop out the scrub)
  • Organic, unrefined coconut oil (you definitely want unrefined because it has that delicious coconut fragrance. Refined does not.)
  • Brown sugar or raw cane sugar
  • Jojoba oil or almond oil
  • 1 fragrant rose

Step 1: Put a large chunk of coconut oil in jar (the coconut oil should take up about 1\3 of the jar).

Step 2: Pull the petals off the rose and lay them on top of the coconut oil.

Step 3: Fill the rest of the jar with either brown sugar or raw cane sugar.

Step 4: Drizzle a generous amount of jojoba or almond oil on top of the brown sugar. Let it start to seep into the rose petals, then drizzle a bit more. Put the lid on and let all the oils mix together for at least two hours before using!

When you're ready to use the scrub, take a spoon and crush up all the ingredients in the jar to form the scrub. The petals will break into small pieces, the oils will mix really well with the sugar and the smell will be amazing! This scrub has a shelf life of one year.

Can you suggest me something for the cucumber scrub? Is it available from the direct market? Do let me know, I am really dying for it.

Kathy, I use scrub direct from the market. I use scrub made by a company called ASUTRA. I use "sensual rose", but they have cooling cucumber on their list. I bought mine from Amazon, you can check it out.
