A pie isn’t a pie if it’s not made with this simply better recipe for a Flaky Pie Crust from Simple Truth® and Simple Truth Organic®.

Ingredients

2 cups sifted Simple Truth Organic® All-Purpose Flour

1 tsp. salt

2/3 cup shortening

5 to 6 Tbsp. cold water

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400° F.

  2. Sift flour with salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles fine meal.

  3. Sprinkle with water, a tablespoonful at a time, mixing lightly with fork until all the flour is moistened.

  4. Form dough into a ball; divide in half.

  5. Roll each to 1/8” thickness on lightly floured board; fit pastry loosely into pie plates.

  6. Prick bottom and sides with fork; trim and flute edges. Bake 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown.

 

Note: For a 2-crust pie, do not prick. Follow recipe directions for baking.

Do you have organic Lard?
